AURORA | Victims and survivors of the 2012 mass shooting at the Century 16 movie theater will be honored with a 5-kilometer walk and run, chalk art display and live music during the Day of Resilience on July 20 at the Aurora Municipal Complex.

Hosted by the 7/20 Memorial Foundation, the event will start at 8 a.m. with the Hero’s Journey 5K, organized by shooting survivor and former NFL player Zack Golditch to raise money for a scholarship offered through Aurora Public Schools. A shorter run for children will take place at the same time.

Members of the public can register for the run at https://runsignup.com/Race/CO/Aurora/TheHeroes5K or www.runnersroost.com.

Over 25 chalk artists will be drawing in the memorial garden throughout the morning. Wristbands granting entry to the on-site Reflection Garden on Tap festival featuring bands as well as beer from local breweries are also available for $35 ahead of time and $40 on the day of the event.
