AURORA | Two years after a man was gunned down on his porch in front of his teenaged daughter, a suspect in the slaying has been charged with murder.
Arapahoe County prosecutors late last month charged Marva Camille Golden, 24, with several crimes stemming from the Nov. 15, 2010, slaying of Michael Thompson, 43.
According to an arrest affidavit filed against Golden, Thompson was killed during a botched robbery at his home in the 900 block of South Joliet Street.
The affidavit said Golden was one of four people involved in the crime, but so far she is the only one of the four arrested or charged in connection with the case.
According to the affidavit, Golden knocked on Thompson’s door that night and claimed she was having car trouble. Thompson’s teenaged daughter came out of her room and let the woman use her cell phone to call a cab.
A few seconds later, two men who were with Golden barged into the house and one of them shot Thompson in the head. The trio then fled to a waiting car where a fourth accomplice drove them away.
Thompson later died at an area hospital.
Police said they found a beanie at the scene that had DNA from one of the suspects, but weren’t able to gather enough evidence in the case until Golden admitted her involvement this year.
Golden told police that she and three men robbed the house because they believed Thompson was a drug dealer and may have owed people money. After the slaying, police searched Thompson’s home and found more than an ounce of crack cocaine, as well as powdered cocaine, marijuana and a digital scale.
One of the other suspects also admitted his involvement in the robbery to investigators, according to the affidavit, but has not been charged. A police spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment about the case.
According to court records, Golden is being held in Denver County Jail on a separate homicide case from 2010.
