AURORA | Columbia College administrators formalized the school’s move from Aurora to Centennial during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new campus Nov. 28.
During a ceremony that featured Columbia College President Gerald Broude, Centennial Mayor Cathy Noon and members of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, officials celebrated the launch of the nonprofit college’s new location in the Denver Tech Center. The school moved from its former location in Aurora because of space demands and increasing enrollments, school officials said.
“We are proud to reinvest in the Denver community,” said Andye Wolff-Yakubovich, director of Columbia College of Missouri-Denver, during the ceremony. “Our new location in the Denver Tech Center allows us to provide state-of-the-art technology and additional educational resources to our students, which will better equip them to pursue today’s top jobs,” he added. Wolff-Yakubovich’s remarks were included in a press release.
Columbia College, which is headquartered in Missouri, was founded in 1851 and currently operates more than 30 campuses nationwide. The school’s Colorado campus opened in Denver in 1975 before moving to Aurora in 1979. In the past, the school served students from the Lowry Air Force Base and the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. Retired military and corporate students from major companies in the area have also figured in the school’s enrollment base.
