DENVER | Inefficient faucets, toilets and showerheads are closer to becoming illegal in Colorado.
The state House approved the phase-out Thursday passed after a lively debate full of potty humor. The measure would prohibit the sale of low-efficiency plumbing fixtures by 2016.
The House still must take a formal vote on the measure, which would make it illegal to sell new faucets, showerheads and toilets that aren’t certified by the federal government as efficient “WaterSense” fixtures.
The Senate has already passed the bill, so after the House vote, the plumbing measure awaits the governor’s signature.
Supporters call the toilet bill a serious attempt that can save up to 13 billion gallons of water by 2050. Republicans oppose the bill as an unnecessary government intrusion.

Again with the encroachment into my home! Based on the statements here, it will save, at best, 370M gallons per year. That way we can water the city sidewalks and buildings which in turn will grow more sidewalks and buildings! 🙂 How nice!
