AURORA | In an effort to reach out to a growing Latino population in the 6th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman now has a Spanish-language Twitter account this week.

Coffman launched the account on July 4 with a tweet celebrating Independence Day in Spanish. The new twitter account, @MiRepCoffmanCO, will be paired with a new version of Coffman’s website, which according to Coffman’s office will launch later in July.

“I am excited to be able to use Twitter to more effectively reach more of my constituents,” Coffman said in a statement. “Making it even more special is announcing this on the 4th of July, a time our nation celebrates, together as one, our Independence Day”

Coffman isn’t known as a prolific tweeter. But he did take to the social media outlet in recent days to criticize tweets sent by President Donald Trump attacking hosts of a morning news talk show and CNN that Coffman called beneath the office of the president.
