AURORA | School’s on today at Aurora’s Quest K-8, according to Aurora Public Schools officials.

The school was closed Thursday after a fire-protection system malfunctioned, flooding several classrooms and forcing school officials to close Thursday.

Errant water pipe fittings for the school fire-supression system have been repaired and classes are slated to begin at their regular times, according to APS spokesperson Corey Christiansen.

“This issue with the sprinkler system was not caused by the recent cold weather in the Denver metro area,” Christiansen said. “Three classrooms were heavily impacted by the flooding, so we will relocate those classes to other areas of our building.”

Other parts of the school were not affected by the flood.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the school closure today may have caused and appreciate our community’s understanding and patience,” he said.
