AURORA | A daylong anniversary ceremony remembering the victims and survivors of last summer’s theater shooting has been planned for July 20, city officials announced June 5.
The “Day of Remembrance” is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. on July 20 at the Aurora Municipal Center’s great lawn with a ceremony to honor the victims and survivors of the July 20, 2012, shooting at the Century Aurora movie theater that saw 12 people die and more than 50 others wounded.
The ceremony will be a “multi-faceted day of meaningful remembrance, continued healing and positive community actions,” according to the city’s Facebook page.
Several activities will be offered on the great lawn between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., including yoga, counseling, art and music.
At the same time, residents can volunteer for community service projects at various locations throughout the city. The activities haven’t been finalized yet.
