BOULDER | A complaint has been filed accusing the Boulder Chamber of Commerce of violating election laws after it sent an email urging voters to oppose two ballot issues.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera (https://tinyurl.com/oza2oxr ), the Boulder Chamber of Commerce does not have an issue committee registered with the city, and it has a $75,000 contract with the city, which could violate election rules. The Boulder City Clerk’s Office is investigating.

One ballot measure would allow neighborhoods to vote on land use rules if 10 percent of the registered voters requested a vote. The other would require the city to reject new development unless it pays or provides facilities and services.

Chamber officials say they have a responsibility to educate people about the initiatives because they could have an economic impact.
