AURORA | Community College of Aurora is hosting a “White House” event aimed at increasing educational and economic opportunities for Black Americans.
The White House Initiative for Black Americans and Discovery Education will be presenting “Power Up.” It is a nationwide event series that community members can attend for free. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the series “is an effort to promote equitable access to resources that serve the needs of Black students, families, and communities.”
The series has also been hosted in Charleston, Denver, Chicago, Las Vegas and Philadelphia.
Attendees will be able to network, attend career fairs and learn about accessing federal resources.
The free, two-day event will be held at the community college. Registration must be completed on the community college’s website. Here is the event information.
