AURORA | Both directions of Interstate 70 between East Colfax Avenue and Tower Road will be closed to traffic Monday night as crews complete work on a new pedestrian bridge over the interstate.
The bridge is located east of Tower Road, and the work will require the closure of all westbound lanes between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Eastbound traffic will be rerouted from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured onto Colfax and Tower as long as the 2.5-mile segment of I-70 is closed. The new bridge is part of an ongoing project to connect trails south of Colfax and north of the interstate, following the path of the High Line Canal.
Work on the trail connection began in January 2023 and is expected to wrap up in the coming weeks. More information about the project is available at AuroraGov.org/HLCT.
