AURORA | An unidentified man was shot and injured at an apartment gathering Saturday night in central Aurora, and the suspected gunman is still at large, police said.

Officers were called to an apartment at the Preserve at City Center Apartments, 1039 S. Fairplay Way, at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after witnesses called police for help.

“When officers arrived, they located an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound,” Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Investigators said the shooting occurred during some kind of gathering inside an apartment and that the man suspected in the shooting “ran from the scene in an unknown direction,” Moylan said.

“APD officers conducted an extensive search of the area for the suspect, but he was not located,” police reported. “No arrests have been made.”

Moyland said police continue to search for the man, whose identity was not released.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
