AURORA | Aurora police arrested a man Wednesday accused of robbing the same Aurora gas station five times in as many months.

Ross Woessner, 20, of Aurora, was arrested and charged with multiple felony counts of aggravated robbery and menacing with a firearm. Woessner is currently being held at the Aurora Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bond.

“Of the six robberies, five of them occurred at the same Shell gas station, located at 3385 S. Tower Road, and one at the 7-Eleven, located at 18883 E. Hampden Ave. The most recent robbery occurred on Feb. 24,” Aurora police spokesperson Agent Matthew Longshore said in a statement.

The latest robbery apparently occurred after police asked the public Feb. 14  to help identify a man they say was responsible for the repeat robberies.

“In most of the incidents, he indicates he has a weapon or flashes a weapon to the victim, then he jumps over the counter and steals vapes, cigarettes and beer,” Longshore said in an earlier statement. “He has been seen fleeing the area in an older sedan with yellow-tinted headlights.”

In different security videos, the suspect is seen brandishing a handgun or a large knife.

The charges are linked to robberies beginning July 21 last year.

Police say it was Woessner recorded on security video robbing the Shell gas station on July 21, Aug. 18, Oct. 21 and Dec. 12, police said.

Police said the robber has consistently struck late at night, between midnight and 4:30 a.m.

On Feb. 8, Woessner was caught on tape robbing the 7-Eleven convenience store, police said.

“He typically (waited) about a month-ish before striking again,” Longshore said. “We increased our presence around the Shell station, and he decided to move to a different spot in the latest robbery.”

Detectives on Wednesday said they recovered property relating to the robberies after following up on numerous leads and searching Woessner’s residence.

“Detectives from our Gang Robbery Investigative Team (GRIT) have been relentless in their pursuit of justice, leading to the arrest of a suspect connected to multiple armed robberies,” Longshore said.

The case will be prosecuted in the 18th Judicial District in Arapahoe County.
