AURORA | One man is dead and another in custody after a double shooting Friday morning in a north Aurora alley.

Police said the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. in an alley between Clinton Street and Dallas Street near East 14th Avenue.

When officers responded they found three men, two of whom had been shot.

The officers started CPR and emergency crews rushed the two men to a local hospital where one died, police said.

The third man was taken into custody and is a “person of interest,” police said.

The second wounded man is expected to survive, police said.

Few other details — including names or what led to the shooting — have been released.

Police said they do not believe there is a threat to the public.

“Detectives from the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are actively investigating this homicide to determine what events led up to this deadly shooting,” police said in a statement.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Detective Warren Miller at 303-739-6117.
