AURORA | Aurora police were investigating a suspicious death reported Halloween night,Oct. 31, in the 900 block of Potomac Street.
Officers responded about 10:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, to a field along the Toll Gate Creek between Potomac Street and Interstate 225. Upon arrival, officers found multiple homeless people in the field and one dead adult.
One man was taken into custody on an unrelated arrest warrant and is considered a person of interest in the death of the person found in the field.
An Aurora police statement said the name and booking photo of the person of interest would not be released at this time “in order to not compromise the ongoing investigation.” Police said detectives are conducting further interviews with witnesses to the homicide and that the area is being searched for further evidence.
The department’s Major Crimes/Homicide Unit and crime scene investigations unit have taken over the case’s investigation. Police said it would likely be Monday morning, Nov. 2, before more information is released on the case.
