AURORA | An Arapahoe County jury convicted an Aurora man Monday, Aug. 8, of sexually assaulting an employee at work.

Benjamin Offei, 38, was convicted of two counts of sexual assault after the Arapahoe County jury deliberated for less than two hours.

Offei, who worked as a nursing supervisor, was accused of sexually assaulting a female employee in 2015. His victim told Aurora police that Offei kissed her, fondled her breasts and penetrated her vagina while on the job, ultimately forcing sex on her in his office despite her repeated protestations.

When confronted by law enforcement, Offei said that nothing sexual happened between him and the victim; during the trial, Offei changed his testimony and claimed that they did have sex but that it was consensual.

“These cases are difficult for victims to report and can be difficult to prosecute,” said District Attorney George H. Brauchler. “But that doesn’t mean we don’t aggressively and ethically pursue those who seek to take advantage of and harm others, no matter the circumstances or setting.”

Offei is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 14 and eligible for a probationary sentence.
