AURORA | A mother and her son from Aurora are facing federal felony charges after investigators say they tried to bilk the IRS for $2 million.
Jaquon Mucsarney, 35, and his mother, Schosche Mucsarney, 54, are both facing mail fraud charges that carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison for each count, according to a statement from the United States Attorney’s Office in Denver.
The pair, along with Sherry Charleston, filed about 100 bogus tax returns and received around $300,000 in fraudulent payments, the statement said.
In addition to mail fraud, the Mucsarneys also face identity theft charges.
