AURORA | Aurora Police arrested two juveniles on first-degree murder charges Thursday in connection with a missing persons case that later turned into a homicide investigation.
Officers arrested a 15-year-old female and a 17-year-old male Thursday after finding human remains in an undisclosed location.
Police officials said they will not release the names and mugshots of the suspects because they are minors.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed as Gayland Delanore Allen Jr., 24.
Police have turned over the case to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s office for prosecution.
Investigators said officers were called Dec. 30 to a home on the 1400 block of South Salem Way regarding a missing person report.
“Several days later it was learned there was information indicating there were suspicious circumstances in this case,” police said in a blog post.
Arapahoe County Coroner Dr. Kelly Lear confirmed Allen was reported missing in Aurora before being found shot to death. His death has been formally deemed a homicide.
Police spokesman Anthony Camacho said police do not expect to release additional details to the public.
