AURORA | A man who found his own way to a local hospital for gunshot wound treatment early Saturday said he was shot outside his northwest Aurora home and knows who the shooter was, Aurora police reported.

Police were notified at about 4:30 a.m. by hospital staff about the man and his injuries, described as “serious.”

“Officers were told by the victim that the shooting happened outside, and that he knew who the suspect was,” Aurora police spokesperson Agent Matthew Longshore said in a statement.

Investigators are following leads in the shooting, which occurred outside of 2280 Lima St., but “until they can properly identify the suspect, or place them into custody, we won’t be identifying them,” Longshore said.
