AURORA | An Aurora man accused of killing his 3-month-old son by head-butting the boy in 2013 pleaded guilty Thursday to child abuse resulting in death.
Martin Holguin Jr., 24, faces between 20 and 32 years in prison at sentencing in March under the terms of a plea agreement, prosecutors said in a statement.
Holguin admitted to police that he head-butted his son, Aiden, in September of 2013, but his lawyers argued he didn’t realize the blow could be fatal.
He was arrested a short time after the baby died and has been in jail since.
Holguin is set for trial next month.
