AURORA | A 32-year-old Aurora man accused of fatally shooting a man early Sunday in a strip-mall parking lot, and injuring another man, faces first-degree murder charges, according to Aurora police.
Brandon Ellis Sutton, 32, of Aurora, was arrested Sunday just hours after the shooting in a parking lot at 5064 E. Mississippi Ave., according to Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan.
Sutton is currently being held without bond at the Arapahoe County jail, according to jail records.
Police were called to the parking lot at about 2:15 a.m. after reports of a gunfire there.
Officers encountered two men, one suffering “life-threatening” injuries, and the other man seriously wounded. The critically injured man died later after being rushed to a hospital.
Police said on Tuesday that the wounded man was expected to survive.
“The Aurora police Major Crime Homicide Unit responded to investigate the shooting and quickly identified Sutton as a possible suspect,” Moylan said, leading to his arrest later in the day. “Investigators believe Sutton and the two men are known to each other.”
Police said there are no other suspects in the case.
