passenger seriously injured.

Aurora police spokesman Lt. Jeff Turner said police waited almost six months after the crash to charge Farron Michael Williams, 31, because he was still recovering from his injuries.

Williams’ passenger that night remains hospitalized, Turner said.

Turner said Williams was drunk and headed south on Interstate 225 at about 60 mph when he slammed his Audi head-on into a jersey barrier at the East 17th Place exit. It wasn’t clear if Williams was trying to turn at 17th or continue south on the exit ramp but he didn’t appear to slow down in the seconds before the crash.

Williams has been charged with vehicular assault and DUI.
