AURORA | Several mobile classrooms were evacuated Friday morning, April 15, after school staff found a fake grenade on the East Middle School campus.
Aurora fire Lt. Tony Krenz said crews are searching for any secondary items and the mobile classrooms will remain empty until the search is complete.
The fake grenade was “not a credible threat,” he said.
Aurora police spokesman Sgt. Chris Amsler said the Arapahoe County Bomb Squad was not called and the main school building was not evacuated. Police said the item was a toy.
