AURORA | An Aurora driving instructor was sentenced to more than a year in prison Wednesday for administering bogus driving tests and cheating on his taxes, federal prosecutors said.
Stuart Bryan King, 54, of Centennial, was sentenced 15 months in federal prison for mail fraud and filing a false tax return. He was also ordered to pay a $3,500 fine and $33,772 in restitution.
King ran Little Lake Driving Academy at 1415 Havana St., according to a statement from the United State’s Attorney’s Office in Denver.
Prosecutors said he charged the state of Colorado more than $300,000 for tests he didn’t actually administer and lied on tax returns to evade more than $33,000 in taxes.
King’s school also helped a group of identity thieves from Missouri get Colorado driver’s licenses under assumed identities, prosecutors said.
