AURORA | Ward VI City Councilwoman Francoise Bergan said she is done with treatment and in remission after nearly seven months of chemotherapy treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“It takes some time to get back to 100 percent,” said Bergan, who has sometimes missed city council meetings or had to attend them remotely because of her treatment schedule.
Bergan said she received treatment from the University of Colorado Hospital and that she will have to return every couple months for the next two years before she can say she is cured.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma — formerly known as Hodgkin’s disease — is a cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system. The American Cancer Society said there were about 9,050 new cases of the disease in 2015.
