AURORA | A shootout in a southwest Aurora strip-mall parking lot Monday night left one man in serious condition, police said.

Officers were called to the shopping strip at 3095 S. Peoria Street at about 10 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the area, police said in a statement.

“Officers located numerous shell casings but no victims,” police spokesperson Agent Matt Longshore said. “A short time later, officers were notified that a man had been taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.”

The unidentified man’s injuries were described as “serious,” but he is expected to survive, Longshore said.

“After speaking with the man, it appears that there was a shootout between him and another man following an argument between the two,” Longshore said.

The other man involved in the gunfight was not identified, and he has not been located.
