AURORA | An unidentified man was fatally shot Friday night at an southeast Aurora apartment after he and another man became embroiled in an argument inside an apartment, police said.
Officers were called to an apartment inside the Sonoma Resort at Saddle Rock complex in the 22000 block of East Ottawa Drive, at about 9:30 p.m. after reports of a verbal conflict ending in gunfire.
“An initial investigation revealed that two men got into a verbal argument after a man showed up to a neighboring residence and was banging on a door of a woman he knew,” Aurora police spokesperson Katie Fisher said in a statement. “The argument escalated when the two men ended up inside another apartment, where the victim was shot.”
Details about the two men and the basis of the argument were not released.
The shot man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The suspect has been detained and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing,” Fisher said.
