AURORA | Police say they have arrested three suspects in a Monday night shooting in an Aurora Target parking lot that left a 16-year-old girl and her dog wounded, police said.

Fernando Ayala-Santiago, 19, Steven Ramirez-Lomeli, 18, and Jared Jimenez, 19, are all facing charges connected to the shooting at the store near East Exposition Avenue and Sable Boulevard.

Aurora police Sgt. Chris Amsler, a spokesman for the department, said he couldn’t say which of the three police believe was the shooter.

Ayala-Santiago faces the most serious charges of the three, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated  cruelty to animals and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Ramirez-Lomeli is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and Jimenez is charged with being an accessory to attempted murder.

Police said Wednesday the girl and a 20-year-old man arranged a meeting with a man over Facebook to buy marijuana wax. Amsler said the wax is a form of hash oil.

During what was supposed to be a sale, one of the men pulled a gun and demanded money from the man with the teen, Amsler said.

After the gunman and another man fled in a white sedan, the 20-year-old man and the teen followed.

The gunman then shot at the car, wounding the girl and her dog.

Amsler said because of the ongoing case police aren’t saying whether they used Facebook to track the suspects or how they were identified.

  1. If they are the ones who did this, let’s keep them locked up until around 2055. Prisons make a wonderful contribution to a safe and tranquil society.
