THORNTON | Adams County authorities are considering state charges after the city of Thornton dropped its case against a man who walked into a Thornton movie theater with a gun.

Jim Mapes was arrested July 29 for investigation of a possible dangerous weapon. Mapes said he was exercising his constitutional rights.

District attorney spokeswoman Krista Flannigan tells KUSA-TV (https://on9news.tv/P1JOsR) the county is still reviewing possible state charges against Mapes.

Theaters across the country have been jittery after 12 people were killed and 58 others were wounded or injured at an Aurora movie theater on July 20 during a showing of the Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises.”
