AURORA | Aurora police are again asking the public for information in a 2023 double homicide that left two men dead in an north Aurora alley.
Just before 7 a.m. Aug. 19, 2023, officers were called to investigate an unresponsive man in the alley between the 2200 block of Fulton and Galena streets who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A second man, also suffering from gunshot wounds, was discovered nearby and pronounced dead.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Omar Williams, 25, and Kejuan Mays, 27, both of Aurora.
Detectives with the department’s Major Crime Homicide Unit determined that Williams and Mays had been in Denver with friends the night before their deaths and that witnesses reported no conflicts while they were there.
Police said evidence showed Williams’ Dodge Journey leaving the alley after the killings. The vehicle was found nearly two months later, on Oct. 13, 2023, abandoned more than six miles away near East Alameda Parkway and South Kittredge Street.
Investigators believe the men were killed sometime after 2 a.m. on Aug. 19, 2023, and that their bodies were left in the alley.
Last year, Aurora Police renewed requests for the public to help solve the case.
Despite the find, investigators have been unable to identify any suspects or determine the events leading up to the murders.
Investigations Chief Mark Hildebrand last year aid police were frustrated by the lack of leads and asked for the public to reveal what happened.
“The Major Crime Homicide Unit has worked diligently on this case for the last year, but we’ve reached the point where we need the public’s help to advance the investigation,” Hildebrand said in a statement. “We know somebody out there has information about this case. At least one vehicle drove away from the scene, and that person has valuable information about what happened.”
The families of the victims, especially Mays’ parents, Alonso and Felishea Bradway, said last year they were desperately seeking closure.
Mays, a father of a young son who turns 4 next month, was the oldest of four siblings.
Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
