AURORA | A shooting suspect remains at large Saturday after an Aurora SWAT unit determined the man was not inside a building as they suspected, police reported.

“Officers have cleared the scene,” police spokesperson Sydney Edwards said in a statement at about 3 p.m. “We are still working to apprehend the suspect, who was not found barricaded in the building.”

Residents near the SWAT target in the 1500 block of Nome Street were advised early Saturday morning to stay indoors, via a reverse 911 call, police said.

The incident began at about 5 a.m. when police were called to investigate a shooting in the area, near East Colfax Avenue.

“One adult male suffers serious bodily injury from a gunshot wound,” police stated. “He has been transported to the hospital.”

Edwards said the shooting victim is listed in stable condition.

Police said they continue to search for the shooting suspect.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.

  1. When will the socialist child Councilwomen from North Aurora get serious about all the shooting and killing in her district? Is it because she and her friends despise the APD? She has been in office for five years and the killing only gets worse and worse.
She must care so I have to assume it’s just not a high priority for her. Maybe all of the diversity in her Ward just think that is what is happening everywhere in Aurora. It’s not. Wake up North Aurora citizens.

    1. Dick Moore, You have to be really stupid to try to put the blame for shootings on a council person just because she has a different political party. Than you.

      1. You calling me stupid is probably a compliment coming from you as I placed the blame on no one. The Child could be part of the solution. Maybe it’s just that you don’t comprehend so well at four in the morning.
