AURORA | Two unidentified people were fatally shot and another seriously injured early Sunday at Aurora’s Utah Park, according to police reports.

Officers were called to a local hospital at about 2:15 a.m. after an unidentified person walked into the emergency department suffering a gunshot wound.

“Officers spoke to a victim, who sustained serious injuries, and determined a shooting occurred earlier in the morning at Utah Park,” Police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement.

When officers went to the park, at 1800 S. Peoria St., they discovered two additional shooting victims, both dead.

As of Sunday morning, the age and identities of the victims were undisclosed.

Numerous police combed the park for evidence for several hours.

Investigators believe the shootings occurred at about 1:55 a.m.

“Based on information developed so far, investigators believe this was an isolated incident among known parties, and there is no danger to the public,” Moylan said.

“Detectives are asking residents in the area of Utah Park to check their doorbell cameras or other security camera video,” Moylan said.

Police said anyone with video or information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.

  1. Who is using deadly weapons in a public park? And who is at a park at 2 A.M. on a school night? Only people that are up to no good! Sure hope we get the full story.

  2. The shooting occurred “about 1:55 AM” This city managed Utah Park the posted hours “closes at 11: PM.” And these party animals that always disrespect the rules show us once more they could care less. This event is more of the norm around there and other parks that needs to be reined in. Time to take these parks back, time for more cameras installed in these public places in Aurora as cameras are-24/7 on duty. Nothing like having a virtual assistant close to the action specifically in these “closed park”. A couple options, start installing gates, or APD has to go issue tickets to these after-hours trespassers. This issue is not going away on its own.
