Caldo de rez.

AURORA | If you know your family recipe for caldo de rez, hotdish or carrot pudding is award-winning material, here’s your chance to prove it.

Home cooks in Northwest Aurora and East Denver can show off their culinary skills — and win cash — as part of Alpine Bank’s premier community cookbook contest.

The competition invites residents to submit recipes for their signature dishes, whether passed down through generations or invented in their own kitchens.

Selected recipes will be featured in a community cookbook celebrating the area’s diverse food traditions.

“We know this community is full of incredible home cooks and rich culinary traditions,” said Briana Fernandez Luna, senior vice president at Alpine Bank Aurora. “This is our way of celebrating that spirit and bringing people together through food.”

Participants could win up to $2,025 in prizes.

The first 100 entrants will receive $25 each. An additional $500 will go to each of the 20 recipes chosen for the final cookbook. One standout dish will earn its creator the Community Choice “Best Recipe” award and a $1,500 prize.

No professional cooking experience is required to enter. The contest is open through Aug. 1.

Recipes can be submitted online at https://AlpineBankCookbook.com or in person at the Alpine Bank Aurora branch at East Montview Boulevard and Clinton Street.

  1. Interesting way to get new bank customers in North Aurora. I wonder how much money is in the hands of all the Aurora Citizens in North Aurora. We will probably never know.
