AURORA | The 120th annual Arapahoe County Fair is on today and through the weekend, highlighting the county’s agricultural heritage while marking a trio of milestone anniversaries and offering a fairground full of fun family activites.
The four-day event at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Park celebrates the fair’s 120th anniversary alongside Colorado’s 150th anniversary and the nation’s 250th anniversary, according to county officials.
General admission tickets cost $30, while children under 36 inches tall are admitted free. Admission includes parking, unlimited carnival rides, rodeo events, a drone show, live entertainment, a petting farm, 4-H livestock shows, Kids Corral activities and other attractions.
Food, beverages, midway games and some activities aren’t included in the general admission ticket.
“This year we’re celebrating 120 years of the Fair alongside Colorado’s 150th and America’s 250th birthdays, and we can’t wait to share that milestone with our community,” Arapahoe County Commissioner Leslie Summey said in a statement.
New attractions for this year’s fair include Animal Kingdom, featuring daily animal shows; the Globe of Death motorcycle stunt show; the ShenanGuns! Comedy Wild West Show; the Acceleration Zone on Friday; and a foam party on Sunday.
County officials said the fair will feature 40 to 60 vendors, along with eight to 10 food vendors and additional carnival food concessions.
Fair hours July 24 and 25 are 11 a.m. to midnight, while the final day on Sunday runs from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Fair officials also advised motorists that South Harvest Road will be closed in both directions during the fair for traffic and safety management. Drivers should use alternate routes to access the fairgrounds.
