Word about the opening of A-Town leaked out through social media giving him a steady flow of customers to test out his crew and oven. As a modern, digital-friendly guy he made sure A-Town had Wi-Fi and outlets at every table, encouraging regulars to hang out and and play “Words With Friends.”

He knows they are more likely to hang out once his liquor license is approved and he can open his taps to local craft brews.

“Eventually I want to add more appetizers and entrees that use the oven,” Harris said, talking about the flavor wood-roasting imparts to food.

Back in his home ’hood on this Friday night in January, Harris smiled and said he’s just enjoying the moment: “My road to getting open has been bumpy but I’m open.”

With that, he hopped up and headed behind the counter where a longish line had started to form.
