DENVER (AP) — The town nearest Red Rocks is hearing complaints from neighbors who say new noise is bad noise.

Morrison Mayor Sean Forey is quoted by The Denver Post Monday as saying the sounds associated with electronic dance music are different from past problems. One Morrison resident complained to town officials of being deprived of sleep by the loud thumping, comparing the experience to the plight of a Guantanamo prisoner. Another said retreating to the basement while wearing ear plugs didn’t help.

Members of the Morrison town board are meeting with members of the Jefferson County Commission this week to discuss how to resolve the problem.

Red Rocks is owned by Denver, which on Jan. 1 implemented new limits on concert volume and duration after receiving complaints.
