The gallery announced Wednesday that the exhibition, “The Radical Eye,” will feature more than 150 images by modernist masters of photography including Man Ray, Alexander Rodchenko, Andre Kertesz, Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange.

Tate Modern says John owns “one of the world’s greatest private collections of photography” — some 7,000 images — and the show includes portraits of some of the century’s great cultural figures, including Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Jean Cocteau.

The musician said “each of these photographs serves as an inspiration for me in my life.”

Tate says the exhibition, which opens Nov. 10, is the start of a long-term relationship between John and the London gallery.
