Loeb Finish

It seems like we’ve been down this road before. Or maybe we haven’t.

Today, event organizers for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb announced that Sony Playstation powerhouse and mega-game Gran Turismo would be an event sponsor for 2015.

“The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is an event I’ve followed since my childhood,” Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo franchise, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to become a part of one of the most historic and prestigious motorsports events in the world.  Pikes Peak is such a unique race, there’s truly nothing that it can be compared to.”

The current game once had hints that it may include Pikes Peak perhaps as downloadable content, and the course appeared way back in Gran Turismo 2. But the rally in full hi-def glory never really materialized and fans of the game have been patiently waiting ever since for their crack at the hill.

The statement from Pikes Peak organizers stops short of saying the course will be included in the game, but considering 2016 is the 100th anniversary of the race it shouldn’t be any surprise to see Gran Turismo 7 get exclusive content for the game.
