2025 CLASS 6A BOYS BASKETBALL SWEET 16 PREVIEW CAPSULES

NO. 25 GRANDVIEW (14-11) AT NO. 9 REGIS JESUIT (18-6), 6 p.m.

BREAKDOWN: Grandview and Regis Jesuit meet in the playoffs for the second time in the past three seasons and third time overall. The teams each own a win in the postseason series, as the Wolves were victorious in a Great 8 contest in the 2020-21 season and the Raiders took a second round contest in the 2014-15 season. …Grandview rolls into the Sweet 16 for the first time since the 2019-20 season thanks to two wins, a home play-in victory over No. 40 Castle View and a 1st round road win at No. 8 Horizon. …Regis Jesuit is in the Sweet 16 for the fifth straight season and only needed one win to get there, as it defeated No. 24 Monarch in the first round after it was one of 24 teams that had byes during the play-in round.

WINNER GETS: The Grandview-Regis Jesuit winner moves on to the Denver Coliseum for a March 8 Great 8 contest against the winner of the Sweet 16 game between No. 1 Rangeview and No. 16 George Washington.

NO. 22 OVERLAND (11-13) AT NO. 6 MOUNTAIN VISTA (19-5), 6:30 p.m.

BREAKDOWN: Overland and Mountain Vista meet in the playoffs for the second time in the past three seasons and the fourth time in the last 14 campaigns. The Trailblazers were victorious over the Golden Eagles in the semifinals of the then-Class 5A playoffs in 2014-15, while Mountain Vista earned wins in a first round matchup in the 2011-12 season and in the second round in 2021-22. …Overland has advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since the 2018-19 season in the then-Class 5A tournament and it required a road win over No. 11 Broomfield in the first round. …Mountain Vista played in last season’s 6A state championship game and is back in the Sweet 16 after a sizeable first round win over No. 27 Loveland.

WINNER GETS: The Overland-Mountain Vista winner moves on to the Denver Coliseum for a March 8 Great 8 contest against the winner of the Sweet 16 game between No. 19 Rock Canyon and No. 3 Chaparral.

NO. 15 ARVADA WEST (18-6) AT NO. 2 EAGLECREST (22-2), 7 p.m.

BREAKDOWN: Arvada West and Eaglecrest come together in the playoffs for the first time since back in the 2012-13 season, when the Raptors prevailed over the Wildcats in a second round game on their way to winning the then-Class 5A state tournament. …Eaglecrest

NO. 16 GEORGE WASHINGTON (15-9) AT NO. 1 RANGEVIEW (24-0), 7:30 p.m.

BREAKDOWN: George Washington and Rangeview collide in the playoffs for the third time in the past third time in the past 15 seasons.
