Editor: George Brauchler would have us believe that the mass shootings in the United States can be blamed on most anything but the guns. He claims moral failings and uses timeworn distractions such as the media, certain laws, lack of respect, and, putting the separation of church and state aside, lack of God in schools and the demise of the “nuclear family”. In other words, if only every family looked and acted like his, we wouldn’t have this problem.
The United States doesn’t have more motherlessness, fatherlessness, godlessness, homelessness, mental illness, video games, social media, or doors for that matter, than other countries. It has more guns.
According to the Small Arms Survey, the U.S. has the highest firearm per capita ratio compares to the other most developed country. U.S. civilians own 46% of worldwide total of civilian held guns.
And the U.S. has the highest firearm per capita ratio compared to other most developed countries.
The weapon of choice for most mass murderers has been the AR-15, a semi-automatic capable of firing multiple rounds per minute. It can be modified to continue to fire as long as you hold down the trigger.

Thank God my family has weapons….
First if all there is no God. Second that weapon is more likely to be used against you in your own home or accidentally kill someone in your home than to kill an intruder. Why not just keep a baseball bat next to your bed?
Thank God you do, too. Who you gonna kill? I’m glad I don’t have that mentality.
Representative Ken Buck says he needs an AR 15 to protect his rabbits. So sounds like he’s saying he’s more interested in protecting his rabbits than he is
human beings.
Well wasn’t that cute, Sugar, honey. I see you got the message, Sugar sweet. I hope to hear more from you, soon.
The rabbits are worth more than you are.
Let’s not forget that this was the guy who turned down an offer of life for the Aurora theater murderer, thereby dragging the victims’ and survivors’ families and loved ones back in court on numerous occasions because he wanted the death sentence and could be seen as ‘tough on crime.’ All the trauma his ego created, only to finally accept the life imprisonment plea bargain.
Now he wants to be Governor. His combination of self-involvement, paranoia, cruelty, and complete lack of empathy or self-reflection makes him unsuitable for any elected office. And his hateful fear-based opinions should be ignored.
Anything you say, Gene, is filled with your own form of hatred. You need to try harder to understand other people’s feelings instead of just vomiting up your personal, illogical, misled feelings. You should mute yourself.
Dick, I am glad that neither of us were family members or friends of those murdered in the theater massacre who pleaded with Brauchler to accept the plea deal to prevent them reliving the trauma by being dragged back into the courtroom over and over. Once there, through testimony, including video and audio eveidence, they were again presented with the slaughter of their loved ones, for over a year, before Brauchler ran out of steam and accepted the plea deal.
My note is all about responding to other people’s feelings. I see zero empathy from you.
Yes, come Nov., 2024, let us all not forget this. It was a grandstand ploy to make a name for himself and assuage his ego, which is huge. How-much money did he cost the taxpayers in so doing? But yet, his people will complain about inflation, costs, etc. Wasting money is a big part of what we see today and it’s even worse when we have to borrow to do so.
Holmes deserved the death penalty and should have been strung up on a lamppost about five minutes after the guilty verdict passed. In the good old days, he wouldn’t have even made it to trial with his neck intact.
Capable of firing multiple rounds per minute ????????
how many people are murdered by AR style rifles per year?
George, you are right, it’s not about the guns. We have a Constitution that gives us the right to carry weapons to keep us safe from internal and external aggression.
There are many of us out here, George, who believe in what you are saying and doing. Keep it up!
And as a side bar, George, I suspect that our family is much like yours except for my liberal wife and one daughter. But we all believe in the American Way and that James Holmes should not be alive.
It’s the guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them, as they are not part of the “well-regulated militia” as mandated by our Constitution. It’s all pretty simple, really.
Ageed. People love to kill. The technique changes from century to century. Your neighbors, regardless of creed or color would pull out Grandmas gold teeth if you held her head.
