AURORA | Aurora’s rapidly growing east side will have a new medical center starting next year.

SCL Health Medical Group, which merged with Intermountain Health last year, broke ground last week on an 80,000-square-foot medical building located on Gun Club Road near the intersection of Interstate 25 and E-470.

The facility will house an eight-person primary care practice along with ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, an imaging center and seven speciality offerings, including orthopedics, podiatry, general surgery and OB/GYN services.

All told, the facility will have an estimated 20 providers, according to a news release from Intermountain Health. The project is part of a plan from SCL to bring 50 additional medical providers to the east Denver region.

“There’s a lot of exciting change happening in this area,” said Mark Korth, president of Intermountain Health’s Peaks Region, in the release. “Aurora is expected to add 20% to its population before the decade is through. All those people are going to need care.”

The facility is expected to open its doors in mid-2024. The site sits on 30 acres, giving it the possibility for future additional expansion, the release said.

  1. The location is near the intersection of E-470 and Interstate 70, not I-25 as stated in the article.
