AURORA | Aurora City Council agreed to renew funding for the House Aurora Partnership to the tune of $500,000 this week.
The fund is nearing empty, homeless program director Shelley McKittrick told council during a study session on March 5.
So far, the partnership has prevented 60 evictions and helped house 89 families. The program saw a spike in families needing assistance around the holidays, McKittrick said. But expects that to level off moving throughout the year.
The fund doesn’t support permanent housing, but specializes in rapid rehousing and eviction prevention. McKittrick said the $500,000 would allow the program to operate for another year.
