Aurora had a treasure trove of talent during the 2016 softball season and it shone brightly in the biggest moments. City teams made up half of the final four teams in the Class 5A state softball tournament — Cherokee Trail and Eaglecrest — and both of those local programs were fueled by exceptional talent. Five members of the eventual 5A state champion Cougars lead the way on the first unit of the 2016 Aurora Sentinel All-Aurora Softball Team, which was selected by the Sentinel in conjunction with balloting of city coaches.
