PARKER | As the rounds go on in the Class 5A girls state soccer playoffs, goals get harder to come by.
The Grandview girls soccer team had racked up 15 goals in its previous three postseason victories, but needed just one — a clutch score from sophomore Morgan Szarka with just over two minutes left — to beat Broomfield on Saturday at Sports Authority Stadium.
Fellow sophomore Lindsi Jennings set up Szarka’s score late in the second half as the top-seeded Wolves topped the 12th-seeded Eagles in a rematch of last season’s 5A state championship game, also won by coach Tari Wood’s team.
Grandview is set to face sixth-seeded Mountain Vista — a 4-1 winner over No. 2 Columbine in the other semifinal — at 7:30 p.m. May 25 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The Wolves (17-0-1) and Golden Eagles (15-3-1) tied 0-0 back on March 17.
Grandview enters the championship match with a 16-0 advantage over its four postseason opponents (Prairie View, Doherty, Monarch and Broomfield) and recorded another shutout with sophomore goalkeeper Reagan McCombs saving all four shots on goal.
