AURORA | The shiny Predators Cup was nice, but just as important for the Grandview boys lacrosse team Wednesday night was reasserting itself in the rivalry with Cherokee Trail.

The Wolves’ seniors had never tasted victory against the nearby Cougars, who had tilted the series in their favor in recent years, including two one-goal victories in the past three meetings.

But after trailing for five seconds early in the first period, Grandview surged in front and stayed there until the final horn in a 13-10 victory that gave it custody of the Predators Cup, a traveling trophy that made its debut in the rivalry.

Senior Quinn Moore scored four goals and senior Keegan Martin and sophomore Josh Melton tallied two apiece as the Wolves evened their record at 3-3.

Sophomore Keenan Moffitt scored four goals to lead Cherokee Trail, which suffered a second straight loss following a 3-0 start. Sophomore Cooper Snowbarger added two goals for the Cougars.
