AURORA | The Class 6A boys state basketball tournament shifts to the Denver Coliseum for the final three rounds and two Aurora area teams will be there for at least one game if not more.

Third-seeded Rangeview (at home) and No. 13 Grandview (on the road) were among the eight teams to come out of Tuesday night’s Sweet 16 round with state title hopes intact, while No. 18 Regis Jesuit (on the road) had its run come an end.

Rangeview put itself among the final eight with a decisive 84-63 victory over No. 14 ThunderRidge, which featured two big offensive nights for sophomore Marceles Duncan (24 points) and junior Archie Weatherspoon V (23) along with contributions all around.

The Raiders moved to 22-3 and will play No. 6 Cherry Creek in the Great 8. The Colorado High School Activities Association has not yet released game times.

Grandview, meanwhile, has not been to the Denver Coliseum since the coronavirus-shortened 2020 then-5A state tournament, but earned a return with a 62-58 upset at fourth-seeded Arvada West.

Senior Noah Sevy accounted for seven points (part of a 19-point evening) in the final minute to lift coach Ryan Turk’s Wolves (18-7) to victory. They will be the only non-top eight seed in the Great 8 and will first take on No. 5 Rock Canyon (22-3).

Senior Charlie Atkinson added 11 points, while seniors Omar Atieh and Matthew Samson added 10 apiece for Grandview.

Regis Jesuit’s bid to secure another upset came up short, as coach Ken Shaw’s team dropped a 60-43 contest at No. 2 Ralston Valley. The Raiders finished
