Josh Ulitzky has had many big wins in his career as a Colorado high school girls basketball coach and he passed a milestone Saturday at the Centennial League Challenge.
The multiple state championship-winning coach guided Grandview to a 47-33 victory over Mullen at Eaglecrest High School, which represented his 400th career victory.
Ulitzky — who coached previously at Overland — is one of roughly 16 coaches in Colorado history with 400 or more victories, though Colorado High School Activities Association records have not been updated since the end of the 2022 season.
Ulitzky’s Grandview team — led by junior star Sienna Betts — has won six of its last eight games to get to 13-10. The Wolves await seeding in the Class 6A girls state tournament, in which they will aim to win a third consecutive state championship in the largest classification.
Ulitzky stands as the most winning girls basketball coach in Aurora history as all of his wins came with city programs, while two coaches who have been with city programs — Jim Bartok with Cherokee Trail and Vista PEAK Prep among four stops and former Regis Jesuit coach Carl Mattei, who coached originally at Douglas County and is currently at Denver East — sit in front of him in total wins.
