AURORA | Police have released few details after an unidentified man was shot and killed about 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Red Sky Condominiums in east-central Aurora.
Police said multiple callers at 6:47 p.m. reported a shooting at 14704 E. Second Ave., according to police spokesperson Officer Crystal McCoy.
“Upon officers’ arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” McCoy said in a blog report. “He was transported to an area hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.”
On Aug. 23, less than a week after the killing, police announced the arrest of 21-year-old Daquan Mitchell in connection with the shooting. Investigators have recommended charging Mitchell with first-degree murder.
As per police policy, the name of the victim will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s office in coming days.
“At this early time in the investigation, the facts and circumstances that led up to the shooting, to include suspect information, are still being determined,” McCoy stated.
