Man shot dead outside east Aurora restaurant Wednesday night


AURORA | Aurora police are trying to piece together what precipitated a shooting that left one man dead outside of a Filipino restaurant on South Buckley Road Wednesday evening.

Officials said officers were dispatched to 830 S. Buckley Road shortly before 8 p.m. on Aug. 25 after multiple people called 911 to report gunfire in the area.

First responders found a man who had been shot multiple times outside of the ChowSun Restaurant at 830 S. Buckley Road, authorities wrote in a news release.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the man as 54-year-old David Lonnell Nash III. His death has been deemed a homicide.

Officer Crystal McCoy, spokesperson for the Aurora Police Department, said homicide detectives are currently gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify a possible suspect.

The strip mall where the shooting occurred, the Bristol Pointe Shopping Center located just south of Buckley Space Force Base, is home to a smattering of shops, including a liquor store, a cell phone company and a local brewery.
