AURORA | Police are looking for a 20-year-old man wanted in connection with an 18-year-old woman’s July 2 slaying at an Aurora motel.

Arturo Garcia is wanted on a first-degree murder charge stemming from the slaying at the Knight’s Inn Motel, 14200 E. Sixth Ave., police said.

Alexandrea Victoria Raber, 18, was found dead in a room at the motel near East Sixth Avenue and Interstate 225 after police responded to a welfare check call there.

Police have not said how Raber was killed but the Arapahoe County coroner’s office, which released her identity Monday, ruled her death a homicide.

According to state records, Garcia has been arrested multiple times in Colorado, including in March when Aurora police arrested him on multiple domestic-violence charges, including kidnapping and assault.

Colorado Bureau of Investigation records show Garcia pleaded guilty to assault and extortion in May and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and probation. Other charges, including kidnapping, strangulation and others were dismissed.

Police are asking anyone with information about Garcia’s whereabouts to call the APD Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team Tip Line at 303-627-FAST (3278).

Anyone with information about Raber’s death can call Detective Todd Fredericksen at 303-739-6106. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 and may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
