AURORA | A 34-year-old Aurora man told police an attempted car-jacker shot him in the leg early Sunday while he was in or near a west Aurora apartment complex.
The man told police he was sitting in his car at about 2:45 a.m. when an unknown man opened the car door and attempted to steal the car.
At some point, the car-jacker fired a gun and shot the man in the leg.
“The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was in stable condition as of early this morning,” police said.
The shooting victim described the gunman only as a Black man.
No other details about the shooting suspect were provided, police said.
